Annie Sloan Chalk Paint | Transformation 1

So I finally dove in and took a class on using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I feel like it is all that I hear about these days on my blog addiction. It was ah•mazing!

Here is a picture of the initial piece I found and decided needed some TLC.

And here it is transformed

Special thanks to Michelle at Wonderfaux Studio for putting on such a great workshop.

First Astros/Pirates Game

Last week some of our friends invited us to the Astros/Pirates game at Minute Maid Field. I am from Houston and Bryan is from Pennsylvania so it was quite the battle. They had a suite that they had won at a golf tournament and invited a bunch of people. Brayden will now be forever spoiled! Fun was had by all, but my favorite memory was taking this picture of Bryan and Brayden down by the field. So cool to capture such a special moment for father and son. First ball game!

Brayden also made a little friend that helped keep him entertained. They played tag and ran around in the hall. Brayden didn't quite understand the concept of tag, but loved chasing Derrick around!

Thanks for hosting Kurt, Ashley & Palmer!

Brayden's Teepee

What was supposed to be Brayden's first birthday present turned into his 17 month present. I finally got around to making his teepee. This almost became an abandoned project, but I stuck it out and am happy that I did!

For starters, I hadn't bought enough of the seersucker fabric. When I went to purchase more, they no longer carried it so fortunate accident it was, I ended up finding the gray chevron which I think MADE the teepee! There are tons of tutorials online, but non of them give you a good idea as to how you connect the poles up top. This turned into the most challenging part for me. I started by drilling holes for some carriage bolts I had purchased.... Then had to drill larger holes... Then scraped that idea completely and secured with rope and hot glue! Not saying it is indestructible, but seems to have held its own from Mr. Brayden so far...

I was going to monogram Brayden's initial or name up top, but thanks to my mom's wonderful advice, I decide to go with something less permanent so that other future children would still feel the love! Thanks Mom!

Was going to try and do my first DIY tutorial on this one, but since it turned out to be a beast, I stopped taking pictures. Sorry! Maybe next project...

I think it was a success and he is loving it!

Nursery Poms

Nursery Poms

To make things easier on ourselves, we moved into this house when I was 8 months pregnant. My wonderful mother painted the nursery since I wasn't able to do so myself. She left a blue paint mark on the ceiling which ended up being right above where we placed the changing table. Brayden always loved to point at it, but now he finally has something else to look at while getting changed. I moved the poms from his birthday party and hung them over his changing table. He loves to stare point, touch, pull and giggle at the colorful poms. I am very happy with the finished product!

Bowtie & Mustache Bash

Bowtie & Mustache Bash

Brayden turned 1 on February 1st. We threw him a Bowtie & Mustache Bash. The theme was a hit! So cute to see kids in bowties.... The mustaches didn't last too long.... maybe I should have painted them on their faces. Never the less, fun times were had by all!
